Connor Pigg Celebrates Eight Years as Head Track Coach

For the last eight years, Connor Pigg has held the head track coach position. Pigg has also coached football for nine years, seven years as the head coach; and wrestling for three years, one year as the middle school head coach.

Guzman Grabs Gold at Centennial Invite

Isaiah Guzman claimed the gold medal in the triple jump at the Larry Pickering Centennial Invitational held at Dutch Clark in Pueblo on the 22nd of March. Guzman garnered the gold with a leap of 44”5” to place higher than anyone else of the 37 teams in attendance at the meet.

Thunderbolts Win Pair in League Play, Fall to State Champion

The Rye High School baseball team won a league double header on the road at Rocky Ford and dropped a home game to Denver Christian last week.On March 20, Rye traveled to Rocky Ford and downed the Meloneers 7-3 and 12-0.

Soccer Team Falls to Three Tough Teams

The Rye High School girls’ soccer team dropped three tough matches last week, two of them nail biters, against tough competition.On March 18, Rye hosted Pueblo East and fell 2-1.

High School Track Team Starts Strong

Rye High School and 40 other schools met for their second meet of the new year on the 15th of March at the Banana Belt Classic hosted by Pueblo Centennial High School.Top finisher for the Thunderbolts was Isaiah Guzman who won the silver medal in the triple jump with a leap of 44’.

Baseball Team Gets Back into Action

The Rye High School baseball team had a scrimmage and some B-team action this week but the varsity was idle until they hosted Las Animas (0-0) on Tuesday. You’ll see that report next week.Today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. the Rye nine travel to Rocky Ford (11) for a 2 p.m.

Soccer Team Loses Close Match in Season Opener

The Rye High School girls’ soccer team opened their season on the home turf on March 11 and lost a tightly fought game to Bruce Randolph of Denver 2-1.“Bruce Randolph was a very competitive game where both teams had plenty of chances to win,” shared John Crowell, Thunderbolt Head Coach.

Golf Team has First Meet Monday

The Rye High School girls golf team will begin their season next Monday, March 24th at the La-Junta golf course in a tournament sponsored by Swink High School. Tee off time is at 10 a.m.

Rough Opening Week for Thunderbolt Baseball

T The Rye High School baseball team had a rough go of it in the first week of the season.“We have a lot of work to do,” shared Head Coach Stacey Graham, “on both sides of the ball.Graham, and his young team were shut out by Pueblo East 120 and downed by Gunnison 14-1.

Thunderbolt Girls End Season on Winning Note

The Rye High School girls’ basketball team finished the regular season with a pair of victories after an early week loss.On the 25th Rye traveled to Crowley County and fell to the Chargers, 52-40.
