Rye Cross Country Team Making Progress, Maroney Finishes Third

David Maroney placed third at the Rocky Ford Invitational on August 29th. Seventy-one runners ran in the boys’ division which was won by Joel Davis of Lamar in a time of 15:45.60. Maroney was a little over a minute behind Davis in a time of 16:52.80 for the 3rd place finish.

Volleyball Team Takes Pair of 3-0 Victories

The Rye High School volleyball team won their first matches last week by identical 3-0 scores.On the road against St. Mary’s, Rye won 25-13, 25-13, and 25-17. Junior Kaylee Walton had eight kills, five service aces, one block, and five digs.

Rye Racks up Over 500 All-Purpose Yards Downing Trinidad on the Road

The Rye High School football team rolled to 543 all-purpose yards and got into the endzone six times while the Thunderbolt defense allowed only 160 all-purpose yards to Trinidad on the road, coming away with their second victory of the season 416.

RHS Rolls Over Manitou Springs in Season Opener

The Rye High School football team opened the season with a convincing win over Manitou Springs, 28-3 on the home field.Freshman quarterback, Brady Baumgartner completed 12 of 24 passes for 87 yards and ran for a touchdown.

Football Coach Looking for Dedication Commitment and Success

The Rye High School football team began the season with a solid victory against Manitou Springs (see story on this page) For Head Coach Conner Pigg this began his eighth season in the roll of Head Coach, and his 11th year with the program.

Golf Team Places First in Lamar and Second in Alamosa

The Rye High School boys golf team continued to play at a torrid pace, capturing the Lamar Invitational title and coming in 2nd at the Alamosa Invitational last week.Last Tuesday at Lamar, RHS won the tournament with a team score of 257, eight strokes ahead of 2nd place St. Mary’s’.

Martinez Looking Forward to Boys Golf Season

Ian Martinez is in full swing as head boys Golf Coach for his third season at Rye High School (RHS). All told, Martinez has coaching experience in golf, baseball, softball and basketball. He will be assisted at RHS by Mike Reilly.

Roy Predicts League Show Down with Swink in Volleyball

Michelle Roy begins her 4th season as the Head Volleyball Coach at Rye High School. She will be assisted by Amerette Chacon and Stasi Dale this season.In addition to volleyball, she also coached softball for five years.

Golf Team Places Second in Initial Outing

The Rye High School boys golf team began their season Friday, August 8, with a trip to La Junta for the Swink Golf Classic.Rye came in second in the 14team tournament a mere five shots behind Monte Vista who won the tournament with a score of 247. Rye shot a 252 as a team.
