The District 70 Board of Education heard a presentation from Ethan Beeman, Rye High School’s FFA advisor and Ag Sciences teacher, about the upcoming trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

RCC Saddle Club to Host Royalty Clinic

It is getting close to time to select a new royalty court for the Rye Colorado City (RCC) Saddle Club, and they want to help the contestants be prepared. There will be a clinic held on Saturday, September 30 for anyone interested in competing for the royalty positions.

Metro Board Passes Addition to Nepotism Resolution

With only three Colorado City Metro District board members present on September 12, the bare minimum for a quorum, several projects moved forward and several were delayed to get additional input from the missing board members.

Ohlsen Named the 2023 Silver Queen

Former Rye resident Dorothy Ohlsen, currently residing at Bonaventure of Pueblo, was named Pueblo’s 2023 Silver Queen on September 14. Ohlsen, a young 98-year-old, has led an interesting and astounding life.

The Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) has a full board, complete with a new officer election after their meeting on September 18. The election of officers is usually held in July but was delayed this year due to an unexpected vacancy on the board.

Rye Café Celebrates Two Years of Great Food and Service

On August 27, 2021, Mike Peck opened the Rye Café at 2115 Main Street in Rye. Last Tuesday, he and I sat down to talk about his first two years in business and what is in the future. “People really receive our food well,” shared Peck when asked what had gone right in the last two years.
