Southern Colorado Utility Company Reports Phone Scam

San Isabel Electric has received numerous reports of a phone scam telling individuals they are past due on their account and without immediate payment will have their power shut off. The not-for-profit cooperative utility company has received at least one report from a member who fell for the scam.

Recipients Moved to be Honored by the Chamber

Greenhorn Valley Chamber Board Member Kourtny Quillen introduced the honorees of the 2022 Business of the Year and Business Person of the Year at the Chamber’s annual dinner and meeting on January 13. Pueblo South/Colorado City KOA Campground was honored as the Business of the Year.

CCMD Makes Preparations for Upcoming Election

The Colorado City Metropolitan District (CCMD) board has two, three-year term positions that will be up for election on May 3, 2022. These slots are currently filled by Directors Bob Cook and Greg Collins.

The January 4, 2022, District 70 Board of Education (BOE) meeting was one of the most wellattended meetings in recent history as the Greenhorn Valley turned out to support one of their beloved coaches. Nearly half of the attending crowd was there in support of Coach Jamie Donlon.

New School Board Elected, Metro Receives $3.3 Million for Infrastructure Southern Colorado Real Estate changed hands after 16 years. Jacque Wachob sold her business to Stephanie and Andrew Bratcher. Wachob opened the real estate office in 2005.

New Business and Community Losses Donny Scheid left the position of Public Works Director of the Colorado City Metropolitan District after nearly eight years as part of the CCMD team. Scheid served about six months during the transition from David Valdez to James Eccher as the District Manager.
