Wind Speeds Hit 80mph Sunday into Monday

Wind, wind, and more wind. It certainly seems we have had more than our share lately. The Greenhorn Valley and surrounding areas were especially hard-hit Sunday evening, May 8, through the night and most of Monday, May 9.

Bob Cook Says Current Board Make Up Led to Decision not to Run

For Bob Cook, the decision not to run for re-election for the Colorado City Metro District was clear. “There were so many things I couldn’t get done,” he shared in a recent interview. “The board makes decisions and management goes in a different direction.

Ambler and Varela Share Positions at Meet and Greet

About 25 people attended the Valera-Ambler Fund raiser held at the Greenhorn Valley Library on Saturday, April 30. In addition to the guests of honor, County Clerk and Recorder candidate Serena Adame and Michelle Gray who is running for Pueblo County Treasurer were in attendance.

Spicer, from ICU to Winning Awards

February 28, 2021, started as just another day for David Spicer; he was simply driving toward Pueblo on his day off when it all changed. Not too far north of Colorado City, about the 85-mile marker, another vehicle lost control and sideswiped Spicer’s pickup forcing it into the median.

Area Wildlife Promotion Amplifies Brown’s Voice

Mike Brown was promoted to Area Wildlife Manager by the Department of Wildlife on December 15, 2021. The promotion opportunity was unexpected but became available by the untimely death of Brown’s superior from COVID-19.

Cook Questions Why Action Not Taken at His Last CCMD Meeting

Tempers flared during the April 26 Colorado City Metropolitan District meeting as Director Bob Cook questioned District Manager Jim Eccher as to why many ‘Old Business’ items remain unresolved. This was Cook’s last meeting, as he chose not to run for reelection.

RCC Saddle Club Hosted the First Event of the 2022 Season

The Rye Colorado City (RCC) Saddle Club kicked off their 2022 season with a team sorting clinic on Saturday, April 30. Led by Logan and Jessie Wolfe of Wellington, CO the clinic was divided into two classes. The beginner/novice class kicked off at 9:00 a.m .and went until 12:30 p.m.
