The ballots for the May 3 election will be mailed on Monday, April 11. You won’t have to worry about having a back-up ink pen. There is only one item on the Colorado City ballot. That one item, though, is an important one.

I have made several trips recently to Kansas. One of the things I always look forward to is the price of gasoline in the Sunflower State. Kansas is historically one of the five least expensive places to buy gasoline. Often it will be nearly 50 cents/gallon cheaper than Colorado.

One of the disadvantages to a weekly newspaper is it is difficult to hit holidays on the exact date the paper is coming out. So, you have to be constantly aware and looking into the future. And we blew it this week. Tuesday was International Women’s Day.

According to Wikipedia there have been over 2500 newspapers in the state of Colorado. As of July 2015, (the most recent statistics I could find) the oldest running non-daily newspaper in the state is the Weekly Register-Call in Central City. It was founded on July 26, 1868.
