Free Mobile Market Three Month Trial

Beginning on January 13 from 11:00 a.m. until noon the Volunteers for Community (VFC), in conjunction with Care and Share, will have a Mobile Market in the Colorado City Rec Center Parking Lot. The existing VFC open pantry will continue on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m.

Town of Rye No Longer Accepting Cash Payments

During a special meeting on December 6, the Town of Rye Board discussed the security and safety risks of accepting cash payments at the Rye Town Hall for water and sewer service payments. Trustee Markus Buck made a motion to no longer accept cash payments for services effective January 1, 2023.

Year-Round Huerfano Nursery and Garden Keeps Growing

Huerfano Nursery and Garden in Walsenburg actually started as a wholesale plant business suppling what is now Ace Hardware in Colorado City. The family business is made up of Carolyn Wardell, her son Mitchell and his wife Sadie, and her two daughters Breanne and Makenzie.

Mother Nature Sends Wind and Snow to Residents in a Busy Second Quarter 2022

Cody Purcell began his first day of work as the Colorado City/Rye District Wildlife Manager on April 4. Purcell and his wife, Moriah are both Pueblo natives and their families live in the Pueblo area.

Donations for D70 Revealed at December 20 Meeting

Numerous generous donations were revealed at the December 20, School District 70 meeting. Rye High School Principal Michelle Mann Madril reported to the board that the Greenhorn Valley Backpack ladies had recently donated $916.20 in supplies to RHS teachers and winterwear for students.
