The Greenhorn Valley Book Club met on Thursday, July 25, to discuss The Wishing Bridge by Viola Shipman. This simply written book celebrates the ideas and traditions of Christmas amid plot substories and twists.

Colorado has a serious sex trafficking issue. Recently the FBI and state agencies conducted a twoday operation which resulted in the recovery of 27 sex trafficking victims in Colorado. That included eight juveniles and 19 adults.

Rye High School’s (RHS) new Principal, Matt DeJong, held a Community Connection meeting on Monday, July 15, in the RHS gymnasium hoping to get a jump on some of the questions and issues of the 2024-25 school year, DeJong introduced himself to parents and community members of the Greenhorn Valley.

Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation Found in Eastern Pueblo County

A tip about a possible illegal marijuana grow and drug distribution operation on property in eastern Pueblo County led Pueblo County Sheriff ’s Special Investigations and Narcotics detectives to finding and seizing nearly 90 plants and numerous pounds of finished marijuana product.

Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) Fire Chief Steve Bennet reported, at the Wednesday, July 15 meeting, that the new hiring procedures are working out well. He stated two new employees have been added to the staff and he was pleased with how the newly restructured hiring process worked out.
