Ranching Community Comes Together for Benefit

A substantial portion of the Pueblo County ranching community gathered at the Boone VFW hall to support Ron Kroll, a longtime rancher from the Colorado City area and board member of the Pueblo County Stockmen’s Association.

The Pueblo County Stockmen’s Association (PCSA) is hosting a spaghetti dinner to support local rancher Ron Kroll. Kroll was involved in a significant 30-car pile-up on Interstate 25, south of Pueblo, on February 17, 2026.

The Pueblo County Sheriff ’s Office is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect unused, expired, and unwanted prescription medications on Saturday, April 25, as part of National Drug Take Back Day.Sheriff ’s deputies will be at three locations beginning at 10 a.m.

On April 7, the Pueblo County School District 70 (D70) Board of Education (BOE) approved a request that was quite unusual for D70. Ordinarily, D70 struggles to have enough contact hours with students due to snow days interrupting the scheduled hours.

Rye FFA Celebrates a Decade of Oyster Fry Events

The Rye High School FFA Chapter celebrated “A Decade of Havin’ a Ball” with a nearly record-breaking attendance at their annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and Labor Auction. Parking lots were filled, with additional vehicles overflowing along Highway 165.

Mike Reilly is in his fourth season as the Director of Golf at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City. Mike runs the pro shop as a lessee from the Colorado City Metro District (CCMD) and then, through that entity, is a department head over the course activities.

On Tuesday, March 31, the Susan Kalman Peaks to Prairie Community Center hosted a team from the Pueblo County Planning and Development Building Division for a Lunch and Learn session. The team explained the recent reorganization of departments and the streamlined services offered by the county.
