The Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) has three board positions open in the upcoming election. Chairman John Schaiberger is unable to run again under term limits and George McGoff will not be seeking reelection. Mike Graber’s position is also up for reelection and he will be running again.

Adeline Hornbek and her four children took advantage of the Homestead Act passed in May of 1862. The act required the homesteader to be a U.S. citizen, head of a family, and over 21 years of age.

Mayor Pro Tem Sheila Henderson oversaw the January 12, 2022 Town of Rye meeting. Town of Rye employee Gib Rokich presented the water treatment plant report prepared by Rye Operator in Responsible Charge, Richard Hopp. Rokich pointed out that the town is using 40,000 gallons of water per day.

Craver Students Win VFW Patriot's Pen Contest

Craver Middle School hosted an awards ceremony on Tuesday, February 8, acknowledging students who won and placed in a recent contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

CCMD Board Approves Funding for New Equipment

The Colorado City Metropolitan Board approved two motions to allow for funding to purchase a dump truck and an ATV with a snowplow. At prior meetings, District Manager Jim Eccher presented evidence that the CCMD dump truck is worn out and trucks that were for sale for the board’s consideration.
