Boys Basketball Team Splits Pair of Games Last Week

The Rye High School Boys’ Basketball team split a pair of games last week as the regular season winds down. Last Thursday on their home court, Branden Benz poured in 14 points and Camden Steel added 13 points as the Thunderbolts downed the visitors from Swink, 46-41.

Peterson Remains Unbeaten, Final Regular Season Action Saturday

Remington Peterson won the gold medal at the 2022 Valley Classic held in Center last Saturday and moved his record to a perfect 24-0 with a lone regular season tournament left on the schedule before regionals. After a first-round bye, Peterson won a technical fall 27-10 in his second match.

Rye Girls Basketball Team Rolls to Three More Wins

The Rye High School Girls’ Basketball team outscored a trio of opponents 185-53 last week moving their record to a perfect 14-0 as they continue to be ranked anywhere from #1 to #6 in 2A basketball polls around the state. Last Thursday the Lady-T’s downed visiting Swink 60-19.

Boys Round Ball Team Downs Las Animas

Branden Benz poured in 20 points and Chance Donlon added 16 points as the Rye Thunderbolt Boys’ Basketball team downed Las Animas in the Thunderdome 60-37 on the 21st of January.

Magnificent Seven Raises Record to 11-0

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team scored 26 points in the first quarter on the 21st when they hosted Las Animas. LA scored 15 for the entire game.

Answers Difficult to Find in Failure to Rehire Donlon

Over two weeks have passed since a cavalcade of concerned Rye High School parents and students made the trek to the district 70 Board of Education to express their chagrin at the failure of the RHS administration to re-hire five-year, head volleyball coach Jaime Donlon.

Wrestlers Compete in League Tournament Thursday Night

Rye High School took half a dozen wrestlers to the Gunnison Cowboy Invitational last Saturday and came back with an eighthplace finish in the 16-team event. Remington Peterson continued his season unbeaten with a gold medal in the 195 lb. weight class and a 13-0 record for the season.

Rye Girls Start January Where They Left Off

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team picked up where they left off before Christmas break downing Holly 58-14 last Friday. Sydney Adamson led the Lady T’s with 20 points, four assists, and eight steals. Sophie Adamson had 17 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Peterson Named Outstanding Wrestler, Rye Places 12th

Remington Peterson ran his record to 11-0 and won the gold medal at the Pete and Ina Gomez Invitational held in Walsenburg last Saturday. Peterson dominated his four opponents, with technical fall wins of 26-11, 23-8, and 22-7 before pinning Cobb of Peyton 49 seconds into the second period.

Boys’ Basketball Team Wins Own Tournament – Listed in Early Season Top Ten

The Rye High School Boys’ basketball team rolled to a perfect 3-0 week in their own tournament including a come from behind victory against 4A foe Pueblo Centennial on the opening night of the tournament.
