Domer Shoots for Ten to Lead Thunderbolt Morale

Sara Domer was a cheerleader and very involved in Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) while she was a student at Pueblo West. Now, the mom of three girls who attend Greenhorn Valley schools, is the Head Coach for the Rye High School cheerleading squad.

At the moment Domer has three athletes on the squad but is shooting for ten as word gets around that there is now a cheer squad at RHS. “Currently, my students participating are my daughter Addie Bennett (Freshmen), Ashley Kiefer (Junior), and Ivey McAlhany (Sophomore),” explained Domer.

This is Domer’s first time coaching a sport and, as a firsttime coach, she hopes to create a place where athletes can express themselves in a safe and creative environment.

Domer shared her coaching philosophy, “I believe every athlete deserves a platform to grow creatively. I hope to take my squad to competitions in the future as we grow. Our competition would be all high school squads in the state of Colorado. But I have formed a very tight bond with many coaches and squads out of Pueblo, and they have guided and supported me on my new journey.”

Domer continued, “I also am very creative in my spare time, I enjoy making shirts, tumblers and crafting. I am always looking for more athletes to join me and I can't wait to hold tryouts for the 2024-2025 school year! Cheer isn't just for girls; I am looking for stuntmen also!”

Domer added one more note.

“We’re always looking for sponsors or donations since we’re so new. We have very low funds and everything helps. Thank you”
