Letter to the Editor Dear Editor,
Fred Ettleman was shot and died over four weeks ago I appreciate the recent comments from Mr. Rice and agree it can be important not to release some details of Mt. Ettleman's reported homicide on Friday 24 FEB 2023.
With that said, I have seen little on this crime since the first week of March when the Pueblo PD reported they thought they had located a vehicle of interest.
Why no further information on the vehicle? Or a statement that the vehicle was not involved?
To prevent potentially some people possibly making false confessions?
Since the shooter is apparently still not in custody, how many local citizens are potentially still at risk IF this was in fact a car jacking?
What happened to Mr. Ettleman's vehicle, reportedly a Lincoln Navigator luxury SUV?
Does that information put the Pueblo PD investigation at risk?
As Mr. Rice correctly reported, if a homicide is not solved within the first 24 hours, the chances of an arrest are reduced day by day. It is now nearly four weeks and we still don't know if this was a car jacking or something else.
I hope there are no additional homicides by the person or persons who reportedly murdered Fred Ettleman.
I too pray the Pueblo PD homicide investigators successfully close this case with an arrest leading to a conviction soon.
As was said on TV's 'Hill street Blues'... 'Let's be careful out there' until they do.
