PROGRESS??

I am old enough to remember the 1960’s when we began to try to make America a nation of one by bussing students across cities and promoting “color blindness”. Then there was a speech made by Martin Luther King, Jr which I believe is very moving when he declared, “I have a dream that one day a man will be judged by his character and not by the color of his skin”.

Perhaps in the last 60 years we have not made as much progress as we should have but the position that is taken today that we teach students in our classrooms that there is a difference between white kids and black kids and then we have to have two national anthems played at major sporting events seems to make this country more divided than ever before.

Does our constitution state that we are, “One nation under God”?

History has shown that civilizations are not destroyed from outside but rather from within. Is that where we are headed?
