Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I hope by the time anyone sees this letter it won't be relevant anymore, but I have to respond to Barbara Zorc's letter in this week's paper (11/3). She claims to want to 'set the record straight' about Rep. Lauren Boebert, saying Boebert has 'helped pass' a list of items. Literally every single item on that list was part of a package that Boebert VOTED AGAINST.

This is not my opinion and it's not secret information.

Anyone with an internet connection can find out if I'm spreading fake news here. Please check. Look it up. Hey Siri, how did Boebert vote on the appropriations bill, HR 2471?

(That's the one where all of these items -- community health centers, sage grouse, wolves, bark beetles and the rest -- were put to the vote.

You can look that up too.)

Boebert has also voted against the interests of veterans at least 15 times, so I don't know what the other letter that week was referring to when it said she 'goes to bat' for them. She's voted against veterans getting access to health care, contraception, education, workstudy allowances, maternity care, expanded GI Bill eligibility, and legal defense. A real advocate.

I'm not trying to be cute here. But it hurts my poor brain when the only newspaper we have in the valley prints the exact opposite of what happened, and no one questions it. I understand where Ms Zorc probably got her ideas -- they appeared in a newsletter sent by, you guessed it, Lauren Boebert, back in March. And indeed, Boebert did list these items as priorities that were important to her constituents. She just forgot to tell you she voted against them.

Sincerely, Becky Ohlsen
