Rye Closes the Season with a Gridiron Victory

The Rye High School football team ended the season on a winning note, but they probably would have rather done it on the football field. Their scheduled match-up with Dolores Huerta Prep never happened. The visitors forfeited, leaving Rye with a 2-7 record for the year. DHP ended up 1-8.

Eight young men listed on the roster as seniors did not get a chance to play their final game. Josh George, Enoch Farney, Jheffrey Miller, Andy Prichard, Jose Martinez, David Williams, Nathan Gaidaszsantini, and Damien Pacheco wore a high school football jersey for the last time.

Head Coach Connor Pigg appreciated his most experienced charges. “ To the 2025 Graduating football seniors I would like to say thank you. Each and every one of them overcame tremendous adversity as individuals and as players. As seniors each stepped into their own kind of leadership role for the betterment of the team.

“ The future is optimistic, as we bring back the entirety of our Offensive and Defensive lines as well as our Quarterback and several players in skill positions. There is a lot of work to be done, by both coaches and players, before the next football season if we want better results.”

“Finally, I would like to thank our student body, parents, and community for continued support despite a lackluster 2024 campaign,” he shared and then closed. “We’ll be back.”
