Kevin Maroney is in his 23rd year as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, and his Colorado City office is growing in the best way possible. According to Maroney, more of his friends and neighbors, local valley residents, are taking advantage of the services he offers to the community. For Maroney, the referrals are the best kind of growth. The kind that are a vote of confidence.
“ The economy is always a challenge,” shared Maroney. “People are having to face inflation and uncertainty and figure ways to make their money work harder. It is so important that people have a financial plan. And if you have one, it is important to review it.”
Maroney, with his experience, would rate the current economy a “C”. Although he is up front about the fact that he doesn’t have a crystal ball, he does have 23 years of experience and education. “I don’t see any dramatic changes in the near future,” he told me. “ The Fed may make a small interest rate cut but it won’t be nearly as dramatic as the interest rate hikes, they made; maybe ¼ point?”
Maroney has noticed people are taking on more debt, and he feels one of the reasons is that people compare themselves to others. Even though there is so much emotion already in the upcoming general election, Maroney says the trend is that whichever person gets elected President the market will improve for a short time.
“ The market generally goes up after the election because financial people know what to expect after they know which party is in power and adjust their buying and selling strategy accordingly,” Maroney opined. “Companies can’t make long term plans with the uncertainty of which party will be in the White House. The market doesn’t like uncertainty.”
Where does that leave you and I? What should we do about our economic situation?
Maroney stressed multiple times in our interview the importance of having a plan, any plan, rather than just plunging blindly ahead.
“First, everyone should take a realistic look at where they are financially; then, where they would like to go; then, review their plan at least annually.” Maroney added, “After you have a small nest egg for emergencies it is time for a financial plan to help you move in the direction you want to go.”
Kevin Maroney loves the opportunity to sit down with people and help them review their financial plan. There is no charge for that assistance of any kind. He can easily be reached at 719-6762248.
He continued, “I don’t think money is everything. But money allows us to benefit others. It allows us to care for our family. It can be used for bad or good, but very generous people make a difference in the lives of other individuals, their community, their church, or wherever they choose.”
“And the truth of it all is that if you don’t take care of your personal finances, it becomes very difficult to bless others financially,” Maroney summed up.
In line with that, Maroney, who has a youngest son in high school, three daughters in college and a son who is a Captain in the Army, wants to continue to make an impact on his community. Recently, he was able to expand his staff by adding two part time people to the payroll.
He strives to make an impact with his family not only as a provider, but in teaching his progeny to become an impact in their own lives.
He loves his parents’ ranch and the opportunity to assist them as they age. He feels a sense of some pride in that his family has been in the valley since the mid-70’s.
Perhaps most of all, Maroney feels blessed and wants to share the benefit of the experiential and educational blessings he has been given. “I want people to remember that if they have questions, they have someone here. They don’t have to go to Denver, or the Springs, or even Pueblo; they have help right HERE.”
