Letter to the Editor

Biden's Theme Song.

'Call me irresponsible, call me unreliable; Throw in undependable too; Do my foolish alibis bore you; Well, I'm not too clever ... Call me unpredictable, tell me I'm impractical; Rainbows, I'm inclined to pursue; Call me irresponsible, yes, I'm unreliable....' 'Call Me Irresponsible' is a 1962 song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen with lyrics written by Sammy Cahn. The words are purposely taken out of context to describe the current leader of the free world.

For the past three and a half years, there's been a collection of administrative decisions that have led to troublesome outcomes. Too many to include in a 350 word letter, but we'll take on the major ones.

During his campaign, Biden promised a 'come one, come all' policy with respect to immigration. He must be very proud – estimated at 10 million crossings thus far.

On energy, he stated he would kill the fossil fuel industry. His attempts through executive actions resulted in higher fuel prices. To counter this, he went begging some of our worst adversaries to pump more oil. On top of that, he tapped the Strategic Oil Reserves by a record 180 million barrels – effect on prices at the pump was minimal.

In the economics area: a $2 trillion American Rescue Plan passed contributing to a 40 year high 9.1% inflation rate. The administration stated it was just transitory, but when proven wrong, they passed the misnomered Inflation Reduction Act at an estimated cost of an additional $1.2 trillion. So as the FED fights the fire of inflation, the administration offers up cans of gasoline.

Joe's ineptness on the home front is closely matched by his approach to foreign affairs. It's highly probable that his disastrous exit from Afghanistan, with our adversaries watching, led to the invasion of Ukraine and Iran's proxy Hamas invasion of Israel, with other proxies (Houthis, Hezbollah) participating.

The latest on the Israel/Hamas conflict is Biden’s threat to withhold arms from Israel – forsaking the State of Israel for the Palestinian voters in the State of Michigan.

Enough said. Anthony C. Powers
