Three Active, but Small, Fires Burning in Colorado

COLORADO WILDFIRES

There are currently three active fires in Colorado. The largest of the three is the Stove Prairie Fire, which was reported over a month ago.

The fire has burned 46 acres, 12.1 miles W of Laporte.

The size of the fire has remained the same since the report last week.

The Settler’s Fire has been burning for three weeks but thus far has burned less than an acre. The fire originated .8 miles south of Longmont.

The final fire described as active is the Mill Creek Fire which, since being reported last Tuesday, has basically not moved and has only burned .1 acre. The fire is located 8.6 miles northwest of Edwards.

The Gagby Creek Fire has been controlled for about a week. The fire ended up burning 4,618 acres and began 7.8 miles east- northeast of Las Animas. It was originally listed as human caused but some are now thinking it might have been caused by lightning.

The 403 Fire has been completely controlled. It burned 1,559 acres and originated 12.3 miles west- northwest of Cripple Creek. The human caused fire began five miles southwest of Florissant. A criminal investigation continues on how the fire began but it is listed as human caused.

Attention San Isabel, Beulah, Rye and Surrounding area residents: the first of three fire mitigation and collection events is coming up on June 17, Hwy 78, Mile 1.0, commonly called 12-mile road, 8am to 4pm.
