RFPD Responded to Semi-Truck Fire

RYE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

Tuesday, April 11, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Rye Fire Protection District and Pueblo Sheriff’s Department were called to assist with a semi-truck tractor that was engulfed in flames on northbound I-25 near mile marker 79.

The semi had, reportedly, just filled up with 200 gallons of diesel fuel and the raging fire quickly spread to brush on the roadside. Assistance was requested from the Emergency Services Bureau fire team.

Firefighters were on the scene for just over an hour extinguishing the fire and all the hot spots on the truck.

The brush fire was held to a small area on the shoulder.

The semi-trailer was loaded with scrap metal, so the load was not highly flammable.
