John Aguilar, 93, of Colorado City, passed away on Dec 28, 2022. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esther Aguilar; children, Ronald Aguilar, Esther Anne Fern, Juan Aguilar, and Sara Aguilar; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John grew up in Raton, NM.
He graduated from UNM with a degree in chemical engineering and later, earned a second degree in civil engineering from TSJC and retired from the Colorado Dept of Transportation. He served in the US Army, National Guard, and the Army Reserve, earning the rank of Major.
He was a kind, generous, and loving man with a poetic soul who was devoted to his family. He loved poetry, Mexican music, working outside, having coffee and donuts with his best friend, and dancing in the kitchen with his sweetheart. He always had a story to entertain and a big smile to welcome you. John was a Valley resident for 33 years and a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
“To be so loved is a divine prayer.”
Services will be held at a later date. A special thank you to Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
