GREENHORN VALLEY
The Rye/Colorado City Saddle Club members, and horses, alike, have spring fever and are ready to get out and play. Officers were elected in February and event committees and coordinators are being set up.
Officers for 2023 are: President, Gay Christie; Vice-President, Ben Fransciotti; Secretary, Jessie Christie; Treasurer, Miranda Reyes.
Board members include Red Anderson, Doug Ostermann, and Kathy Lesser.
The 2023 RCC Queen is Donna Fern and RCC Princess is Sarah McPherson.
Events for 2023 are beginning to fill the calendar.
Gymkhanas will remain on Tuesday evenings starting as soon as the weather is warmer and more stable, dates to be announced.
Registration for the gymkhanas is at 6:00 p.m. with events at 6:30 p.m.
Volunteers and coordinators for this event are still being sought.
The first open (allows nonmember riders) event of the season will be the 5th Annual Team Sorting Clinic, to be held on May 20 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Clinicians Ben and Stephanie Baca will assist with beginner class from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and intermediate to advanced riders from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Classes are limited to 20 riders each and the cost is $60 per rider. Team Sortings will be held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month beginning in May.
Nan Hassey has agreed to coordinate trail rides for this year, and has an Obstacle Challenge Course to be set up for July 9.
A club workday is scheduled at the arena for Saturday, May 6. Volunteers will help get things looking good and ready to use.
RCC Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Colorado City Metro Office from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Memberships are available by signing up online at www.rccsaddleclub.com and are as follows: Family Membership: Member + Spouse and/or dependents (must be 18 or under and living in the same house to be considered a dependent), $40.00 before April 1st.
Individual Adult Membership: Adult 19 years of age or older, $25.00 before April 1st Individual Youth Membership: Child 18 years of age or under that is not in a family membership, $15.00 before April 1st . , All Age Definitions are as of January 1st of the current year.
Dues paid before April 1st will receive a $10.00 discount.
