Carnival Returns to Rye Elementary School

The Rye Elementary School Carnival is returning this year, after two long years of COVID restriction shutdowns. The students’ parents and school staff are preparing with enthusiasm.

Lisa Asbury, Rye Elementary Principal, says, “It will be a fun event! We will have games set up in every classroom and booths throughout the school. The student council will have a concession stand with hot dogs and other foods, and we will have a cotton candy machine. We are also planning an old-fashioned cake walk and an obstacle course.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the carnival which will be held on April 28, at the Rye Elementary School from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The games that are being set up by the teachers will have something for all ages to participate. Game tickets for the carnival will be sold for just fifty cents each.

While there won’t be games for the attending adults, there will be some lovely gift baskets for the drawing.

Asbury advised that the best part of the carnival is that all funds raised go right back to the children, as the money is used for field trips and other fun things that the district does not cover. She said all the classes will take spring field trips this year.

Funds raised from the carnival also go to longer-range improvements such updating the playground. According to Asbury, quite a bit of the playground equipment is need of repair or replacement

The Rye Elementary staff is looking forward to the community getting together for a fun night. A family can come to the elementary school for the evening and have food, treats, and hours of entertainment for a very low cost.
