Letters to the Editor

Letter to the Editor For What It's Worth.

'There's something happening here; But what it is ain't exactly clear; There's a man with a gun over there; A-telling me I got to beware; I think it's time we stop; Children, what's that sound?; Everybody look what's going down....' 'For What It's Worth' is a song written by Stephen Stills and released in 1966 referring to a riotous event of that era. The words served as a subliminal warning to all concerned to quell the situation, but they currently bring to mind the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally last Saturday. Not so much the event itself, but the background on how we got here.

Before I proceed with this, and although the shooter's motivation is still in limbo, both ends of the political spectrum rushed to judgment on who deserved the blame. So the reader can agree or disagree with what follows.

One might say the fault lies with Donald Trump himself and the fact that he had the gall to run for president in the first place. You see, we have to backup historically to clarify.

If he hadn't campaigned, there would've been no fake Clinton dossier generated to besmirch him. If he hadn't won the presidency: there would've been no special prosecutor; no impeachment #1; no impeachment #2; and no congressional investigation into January 6. After he left the presidency and (fast-forward) is running again, it's doubtful that four separate cases bringing on indictments in attempts to either bankrupt and/or imprison him would have been brought.

Presently, it looks as if the current legal attempts are on hold or falling apart.

Sorry Donald it looks like your original decision to become president, and all the failed past actions against you, was taken to a new level this past Saturday.

Enough said. Anthony C. Powers
