Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I read with great interest this week’s Viewpoint. I think it’s just another way the government is trying to bamboozle and confuse us. I believe they have known for some time that water is more expensive than beer. We should have switched over years, probably decades, ago.

Hops and malt are readily available, as are potatoes and turnips. These things make inexpensive beer which was learned during the glory days of the Great Depression, when beer-making became a regular household chore.

Beer is not only cheaper than water here in Colorado, I think it’s also more plentiful. Every mother knows the benefits of cooking with beer instead of water, not to mention bathing and showering.

Beering our lawns and gardens would create bigger and more vigorous plants. Who among us would not want our tomatoes, zucchini and collard greens beered instead of watered? The flavor would be doubly enhanced when the veggies are also boiled in beer. Almost everyone knows that beer-steamed green beans are far more tasty, and healthful, than when using water.

Switching over to beer for all Colorado household uses would have another tremendous advantage to the state.

When my wife and I moved here from the Northeast several years ago one of the first things we noticed was the lack of water. There are no oceans anywhere close by, and what most Coloradans call lakes would make most Northeasterners roll their eyes and chuckle to themselves. Think of all the water we could save by using beer for washing our clothes, and cars, for just two examples.

The extra water savings could then be used for making REAL rivers and lakes.

Anyway, I don’t expect this to gain too much traction until about half the states of California and Texas moves to Colorado.

They’ve already got a good start. If your readers don’t think this would be smart now, just wait. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

With Tremendous Respect, Paul Trapp Letter to the Editor Regarding Lauren Boebert who is running for reelection as the US Representative for Colorado District 3.

Boebert is not a career politician; she is a fighter and down-to-earth working American who is interested in what’s good for our country, not in attaining her own personal financial and political gain. While her opponent Adam Frisch may indeed be a hard worker and a good person, Boebert has shown that she represents not just Aspen but the common people of Colorado and this country. She champions the economic stability so needed by the middle-class working American citizen. She goes to bat for disabled veterans such as myself who have personally experienced the ravages of war. She opposes our present Administration’s apparent efforts to help our international adversaries and get us into another war.

Boebert believes that taxpayer money should be used to support law and order, not the chaos that massive illegal immigration and defunding the police brings.

We need the intestinal fortitude of Lauren Boebert to fight for District 3 and our country.

Loren Pearson Letter to the Editor After reading two editorials disparaging Congresswoman Lauren Boebert in the Valley View, I felt it necessary to set the record straight on what she has done for the citizens of Colorado. She has been a tireless advocate for rural Colorado and helped pass the following: 1. Secured $1.74 billion for Community Health Centers; 2. $48 million for the U.S. Forest Service to fight bark beetles, to help prevent wildfires and manage our forests responsibly; 3. $10 million for the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ Irrigation Fund that provides irrigation to the Southern Ute Indians; 4. secured a legislative rider to prohibit listing the non-endangered sage grouse, which could lock up 173 million acres of land, which could shut down energy and mineral production, grazing rights and other activities; 5. Secured $1 million for the Wolf Livestock Loss Program to compensate farmers and ranchers for livestock killed by wolves.

Lauren Boebert was instrumental in helping abolish the Biden administration’s Dept.

of Homeland Security’s “Ministry of Truth” Disinformation Board; helped to resume Honor Flight services for veterans to participate in memorial events in Washington, D.C.; helped save the San Luis Valley from the Renewable Water Resources water grab plan to steal 7 billion gallons of water per year to send to the suburbs of Denver; and helped to keep the BLM’s Western Headquarters and 36 jobs in Grand Junction.

Lauren Boebert has been a pro-life supporter and is championing the following bills in Congress: “No Amnesty and Secure the Southern Border Act”; “American Energy Jobs Act”; “Beat China Act”; “Financial Privacy Act”; “Championing our Parents Act”; “Medical Freedom in the Military Act”; “Fueling American Prosperity Act” and many others.

From my research the only time she votes in the negative is when a “high sounding” bill gives more pork barrel money to someone else’s pet project than what is supposed to go for. She is also the only politician who voiced any concern over the sad situation of Colorado City’s disappearing Post Office. That alone is reason enough to consider a vote for her on November 8th.

Barbara Zorc, Pueblo, Colorado Letter to the Editor: Abortion Clinic Planned to Open in Pueblo News of Dr. Carhart's plan to open a late-term abortion clinic in Pueblo is beginning to spread. Pueblo has a lot of things to brag about, such as our amazing people, incredible resources, and natural wonders. We also have a lot of things that we need to work on, such as our crime rate, repeat offenders, homelessness, gangs, the mental health crisis, and a major substance abuse problem. The last thing Pueblo needs right now is a post-viability abortion clinic preying on our community and for sex traffickers to see Pueblo as a safe haven.

We know that Pueblo doesn't support this kind of thing, especially near an elementary school in a residential community. We know that Pueblo's hospitals are fully equipped to handle any emergency situations women would face, not an abortion clinic that takes 4 days to complete their grisly 3rd trimester procedures. We know our citizens are way better off trusting someone who has repeatedly blatantly disregarded the Hippocratic oath over one who has amassed his fortunes by bringing pain, destruction, and death to women.

I'm grateful that so many people are starting to talk about this issue. Pueblo's women and children need us to speak up in our circles about this issue and to oppose it on their behalf. We must continue fighting for women to know the truth and to provide them with hope rather than grief. I hope you will join with us in prayer and fasting on November 1st against this clinic opening. We are counting on you to help spread the word to our churches, friends, and families as well.
