76, of Rye, CO passed away on January 13th, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe A. and Lillie Valdez, and infant brother, Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Diana Valdez; children, David (Tina) Valdez, Mark (Heather) Valdez, Elizabeth (Kevin) Perko, Joseph Valdez, Gunner Valdez; special niece Sara Rios; grandchildren, Joseph (Kasey) Valdez, Matthew (Brittany) Valdez, Jacob Valdez, Michael Valdez, Brynlie Valdez, Lillie (Kody) Perko, Maggie (Elijah) Perko, Sydney (Jose) Perko, Benjamin Perko, Winnie Perko; great grandchildren, Sebastian Valdez, Tobi and Opal Vigil; siblings, Richard (Carol) Valdez, Catherine Stanfill and Evelyn Valdez-Rios; brother in law, Robert Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and life-long friends.
Gil and his family moved to Rye in 1977. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, fishing (“wetting a line”) and coaching. Gil’s most cherished moments were times spent with his family, cooking and laughing together.
Memorial service will be held on Friday January 30th, 2026 at The Pueblo Union Depot, 132 W. B St. Pueblo CO 81003 at 11:00am.
