VFC Board Meeting Plans Upcoming Events

Last week's board meeting for the Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community (VFC) focused on the various events the organization is planning for the community.At the time of the meeting, the volunteers were just days away from hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Bennett's Legacy Lives On

Steve Bennett took his last call and signed off as Fire Chief for the Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) on March 31. As Ross Gallegos, the interim RFPD Fire Chief, said in a tribute on Saturday, April 12, Bennett’s legacy will continue to live on.

Quilt Show and Demonstrations Well Attended and Appreciated

The 15th Annual Southern Colorado Regional Quilt Show concluded on Sunday, April 13, after attracting a record-breaking attendance. Organizing committee members reported that 1,324 visitors attended the quilt show at the El Pueblo Museum over the ten-day event.

Town of Rye Enacts Five Year Plan to Repair Infrastructure

The regular meeting of the Town of Rye was called to order March 12 at 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance were Marty Rahl, Mayor; Kathy MacCormack, Mayor Protem; Patrick Ryan, Trustee; Sandra Steele, Trustee; Geoff Pagnotta, Trustee; Scott Thomas, Colorado Rural Water; and Jocelyn Ensley, Town Clerk.
