Lee Fire Near Meeker Now Over 90% Contained

The Lee Fire, 11 miles SW of Meeker is now 91% contained but continues to grow. Although, this week a mere 300 acres was burned. The lightning-caused fire now has 266 personnel working on it, including five helicopters, 12 engines, three hand crews, five water tenders, and three dozers.

Twenty Decomposing Bodies Found in Mortuary Owned by County Coroner

The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) conducted a mandated annual review of the Davis Mortuary, 128 Broadway in Pueblo, on August 21, 2025. As a result of that inspection, Davis Mortuary has been issued a summary suspension of services.

Okins Prevents Robbery

Greenhorn Valley Baptist church Pastor Paul Okins was in Pueblo last Wednesday morning. After dropping his son off in northern Pueblo near Big Lots he became involved in an active crime when he heard a woman scream.

Town of Rye Discusses Immediate Mitigation of Property

Lee Fire Near Meeker Continues to Grow

A dozen wildfires are burning in Colorado and the Lee Fire, 11 miles SW of Meeker, continues to grow. The fire has currently burned 137,485 acres, a growth of over 24,000 acres. It is now 61% contained. One thousand fire fighters are doing battle with the blaze.

RFPD Grant Facilitates Funding for New Vehicles

The Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) is taking important steps to replace several aging fleet vehicles. During a recent board meeting, a resolution was approved to purchase a new ambulance and lease a new command vehicle.
