Haunted House Looking Forward to Returning Next Year

COLORADO CITY, COLORADO

Nik Walworth, owner and chief organizer of the On Our Street Applewood haunted house attraction says he is already looking forward to next year. This is the fourth year that Walworth, with the help of friends and family volunteers, has been hosting the haunted house as a free event for children in the Greenhorn Valley. Walworth says he did a similar event in his garage when he lived in Denver.

Now he sets up in his carport at 2909 Applewood Drive.

There is no charge to get out and enjoy the haunted house.

Walworth says, “It is a way of giving back to the community, especially the kids. I look at it as kind of an art project. It gives me a chance to be creative while giving the kids something to do. Halloween Town is great but it is only one night, we run this for several nights.”

This year, the haunted house was open on October 25, 26, and 31 and November 1 and 2 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Walworth shared that the days and hours of operation depend upon how many people he can get to help out. He said that even after the hard part of putting up the decorations is over, it takes about twelve people to operate the haunted house. At least eight people that dress up and participate, and the others behind the scenes.

Walworth said that the event continues
