The Charles Henry Payne Family

Charles Payne brought his family to Colorado in 1919 and settled in Pueblo by 1920. One of his sons, Carroll Henry Payne married into a Rye family and retired in the area.Charles was the next-to-youngest child born to George William and Susan Williams Payne.

Dr. Robert Chesterfield Stewart Dr. Stewart was a chiropractor with an office on 4th near Abriendo in Pueblo. He was a participant in one of the most notable abortion prosecutions in the state of Colorado.Robert was born in Louisiana in 1888. His family settled Minden in Webster Parrish before 1850.

Anna Christina Mossberg Family Carl ‘Charles’ August Oakleaf Charles brought his Swedish Lutheran faith to Pueblo and his several children continued that faith. He arrived in Pueblo in time to serve during the Spanish American War of 1898 with Colorado Company C at the age of 20.

The Fearn Family - The Murder of Alice Porter

On April 22, 1942 at 9:30 pm, 16-year-old Alice Porter walked down East 11th Street in Pueblo. A pretty brunette, Alice rode on the street car with two friends after registering for a nursing course at Central High School.

Aubrey Dedrick Fearn operated a construction company that built homes and buildings in Rye and what is now Colorado City in the 1930s. His younger brother, Donald Harry committed an unspeakable murder in 1942.Harry Eugene ‘Hal’ and Alice Dedrick Fearn Harry was born in 1876 near Red Cloud, Nebraska.
