The 1871 Georgia Colony - The Dickson/Dixon Family - Part II of II

-Jennie Dixon married Andrew Legrand Wilcox in 1906 and her sister, Lucy Alice married his brother Earl Edwin Wilcox in 1907. Tragically, Jennie died in 1910. Earl and Lucy Wilcox eventually operated the Dixon Ranch. Their complete stories are told with their husbands’ Wilcox family.

The 1871 Georgia Colony - The Solomon Haney Family

Solomon and his wife Avaline Lavada Wiggins were both born in North Carolina. He in 1821, she in 1825. By 1844 they had married and had their first child, Rufus John. Five other children were born on their farm in Cherokee County North Carolina: Samuel, William, Sarah, Mary and Posey Clinton.

Georgia 1871 The Wiggins Family - Part IV of IV

The 1871 Georgia Colony William Clingman Wiggins William was born in 1857 in North Carolina, moved to Georgia and onto Colorado with his parents and siblings. He was married to Elizabeth Self in 1897 in Pueblo. William and Elizabeth had twin girls born in August of 1898.

 The Georgia Colony of 1871 In the fall of 1871, yet another group arrived in Southern Colorado from Union County, Georgia. Of this group, the W.A. and Mary Ann Barnett Wiggins family and John Barnett settled east of Boonesville, now Boone.

Part III of IVThe Crow Post Office In 1885, under the first administration of President Cleveland the Crow Post Office was established by Calvin William Goss. The post office was named for Matthew D. Crow, the post master of Pueblo and a good friend of Calvin’s. C.W.
