Vinci Places at State Golf Tournament 6.09.10

Trisha Vinci, playing in her third consecutive State Golf Tournament, placed tenth at the tough Cobble Creek Golf Course in Montrose, Colorado. She received a medal for her performance. Coach Betts stated, “Trisha achieved her goal for the year by placing at the tournament and she played some outstanding golf on a very demanding golf course. She shot an 82 the first day and an 80 the second day. She drove the ball well, her putting was sensational, and she managed the course throughout the tournament. She had a great career at Rye High School. Her dedication and effort has earned her a golf scholarship at CSU-Pueblo. Trisha has done a lot for our golf program and we appreciate all she has accomplished throughout her high school career.”

Leslie Ivan also has a fine State Tournament placing 28 out of 84 golfers. She shot 85 the first day and 94 the second day. "This was Leslie second straight year at the State Golf Tournament and she represented our school in a positive manner. She drove the ball exceptionally well and placed sixth ahead of other Southern Colorado Participants," Mr. Betts stated, “Leslie is only a sophomore and she is getting better with each tournament she plays in.”

The Lady Golf Team had their annual banquet to recognize the efforts of the team throughout the season. Letter winners went to Trisha Vinci, Abby Dewhirst, Amanda Hauble, Kayla Jackson, Leslie Ivan, and Kaitlyn Caughfield. Certificates of Participation went to Natalie Ahner and Anna Jordan. Most Improved Golfers went to Kayla Jackson and Natalie Ahner. The best scoring average went to Trisha Vinci. Trisha Vinci also received her award for making the Tri-Peaks All-Conference Team. State Qualifier awards went to Trisha Vinci and Leslie Ivan. Trisha Vinci also received her Senior Award Plaque

Coach Betts also recognized Chuck Burns with a plague for his outstanding contributions to the Rye High School Golf Program throughout the past couple years. Principal, T.J. Vinci was given a gift certificate of the funding and his working on the new team locker room. Mr. Davis was also given a gift certificate for the work he gives to the Thunderbolt Golf Program. Mr. Betts would also like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Caughfield for their contribution to the girl’s golf team. Mr. Betts also recognized Pro, Prim Ivan, for time and effort he gives to the Rye High School Golf Program.
