The Rye High School track team will be represented in 11 events in the state track tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Jeff Co Stadium, 500 Kipling St. in Lakewood, Colorado. The Thunderbolts finished the season at the Pueblo West Cyclone Invitational last Saturday setting 15 personal records in the final meet of the season.

In Lakewood, at the state tournament, Gabe Slade will compete in the 400 meter (11th best time in the state) and the 800 meter (15th best in the state.) Slade ran the 800 meter in a time of 2:05.70 at Pueblo West for a 7th place finish.

The boys’ 4X800 meter relay has the 16th best time in the state and will represent Rye. At Pueblo West they ran the event in 8:59.23 for a season best performance which gave them a 4th place finish of the 27 teams. Slade, Akash Patel, Ethan Gerig, and Brock Roman will approach the starting blocks at state with Josh Garner as an alternate.

Logan Kirkendall will be at the state tournament in the Discus (11th best throw this year).

Audrey Maroney will participate in both the 1600 meter (7th) and 3200-meter run(2nd) at the state tournament. At Pueblo West last Saturday, she won the 1600-meter run in a season best time of 5:39.68.
