The Rye Thunderbolt Ladies Basketball Team traveled to meet the James Irwin Jaguars last Saturday and lost a tough overtime game 45-40 to the host squad. The young winless T-Bolts shot their best percentage of the season from the floor and put together a solid team effort.

This is and must be a team that plays as a team, said Head Coach Kermit Spencer. I feel as if all the players raised their level of play. Not only in shooting, but in every aspect of the game. I know each week I laud the team for their efforts, but Saturday against James Irwin, I felt like they gave more than I have could have imagined. Chasing loose balls, fighting for rebounds, hustling up and down the floor; it was exciting to watch.

Madison Gookin scored a dozen points and had five rebounds. Freshman Chloe Richardson added eight points of her own. Four other Lady-Ts had four rebounds each. The Thunderbolts did have 26 personal fouls including five by Gookin.
