Saturday evening's Mountain Aire Festival drew a large crowd for dinner followed by a lively auction. This popular event is sponsored by the local Faith Circle mission each year in July.
The Ladies’ Aid was organized in the late 1800’s as an organization of women devoted to helping settlers, new and old, as needed. In the mid-1950’s it became the Woman’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS). Four active “circles” work within this group.
Faith Circle’s mission began as a source of “light” to the shut-ins in the Rye and Colorado City area with visits and cards to brighten their days. Proceeds from the Mountain Aire Festival fund the non-denominational Faith Circle’s current outreach to numerous other areas: an “Old Timer’s Coffee”; visitation to the numerous nursing homes and assisted living facilities where several of the valley’s resident are now living; an annual senior Christmas luncheon; cooking and baking food for those who have the need;, Santa’s Helpers—a community effort to provide Christmas gifts to needy children in the area; and occasional monetary help for food, clothing and necessities for individuals or family emergencies as our funds permit.
