Pueblo, CO --- St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center recognizes the important roles school sports play in the development of healthy kids with positive self-esteem. To ensure your kids are healthy before they compete, the Southern Colorado Family Medicine (SCFM) physician residency program at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center is hosting their annual free sports physicals day for Pueblo City Schools and District 70 student athletes who do not have a primary care physician.

The sports physicals program will be held on Friday, July 27 from 1 pm to 7 pm at the SCFM clinic, located at 902 Lakeview Avenue, just north of the hospital. Eligible student athletes are those who range from sixth grade to seniors in high school. Sports physicals are good for one year so athletes who compete anytime during the school year will be covered.

Sports physicals are just one of the many programs St. Mary-Corwin does in the community to support young athletes. In addition to the physicals, St. Mary-Corwin Sports Specialists provides critical game coverage at high school and college football games, as well as other sporting event events. The Concussion Consultants program implements concussion education, testing and assessments for athletes in middle school, high school, and CSU-Pueblo.

The SCFM physician residency program is affiliated with the University of Colorado, School of Medicine and sponsored by St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center. It is one of only two programs in the area designated as Essential Community Providers for the Colorado Indigent Care Program, assisting families and individuals who cannot afford health insurance.

Make sure your kids are healthy before they compete. To schedule an appointment, please call SCFM at (719) 557-5830. There are a limited number of appointment times available, so we encourage you to schedule early.
