Hundreds of Valley residents turned out to support Tasha Fleming and her family April 28. Tasha was diagnosed with leukemia in February and friends and family banded together to raise money to help Tasha in her fight.
Everyone who attended enjoyed a special night of music, great food, and silent auction items. The theme for the fun night was “Horsing Around”, and it included horse races run by toy horses. $6000 was raised through the generous support of the community.
Jennifer Chappell and Terri Barnes were two of the event organizers. Jennifer says, “When I heard the news I was in shock. I knew we needed to do something.” Chappell and Barnes contacted some other friends and soon a group began to meet to plan the event.
Karen Hopkins was also instrumental in the planning. She was very pleased by the great response of the Valley folks. “It was a wonderful turnout. It was so neat to see everyone in the community come together for such an important cause. I left that night feeling really good about what we had accomplished.” Another planner, Adrienne Bidula, agrees. “We really appreciate everyone who came to support the Flemings.”
All the event organizers wish to thank the community for such great support. The wonderful evening would not have been possible without the many people who donated items and spent time setting up tables and serving food. A special thanks goes to the churches who prepared and donated the food: United Methodist, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Greenhorn Valley Baptist, and River of Life. A big thank you also goes out to Sandy and Clayton Kline, Barb Smith, Davette Shaw, Roger Cox, Tim Baird, Roy and Shannon Christianson, Davette Smith, the staff at Craver Middle School, The Greenhorn Valley View ,and the Greenhorn Kickers 4-H Club.

| Thank you Holly! This community is so incredible!
This has been difficult as I've never asked for help before. It's been a truly humbling experience the way everybody wants to help when most of the time there just isn't anything they can do. I do appreciate it though. People want to pray for her and we appreciate that also. I know my praying has hit high-gear the past few months.
One of the things that has been hard for me is trying to understand and accept what has happened. I cherish Tasha. To know her is to love her. She is the sweetest, kindest, most loving person that I have ever known. She makes life at home pleasurable, mostly because of her personality....funny & positive. She never nags even when she has reason to. My wish is to grow old with her.
Love and thanks to all. |
