Pueblo County District 70 Board had approved a two year extension to the contract with the Pueblo County Education Association. The board also agreed to no pay cuts, furloughs or layoffs during the contract time, prohibited the board from reducing health, dental, and vision benefits, and from lay offs of certified tenured or classified employees with three or more years of experience.

The Rye High School volleyball team had been named Colorado High School Activities Associationís Les Schwab Tire Centers Academic Team Champions. Their 3.84 grade point average earned them the stateís highest cumulative team GPA in the varsity sport of volley ball. The following twelve varsity girls contributed to this award: Anna Netzer, Kaylee Rahl, Jessica Lauritzen, Bryna Burns, Jessica Keeth, Sarah Robles, Jayde Van Oort, Lily Sanders, Sarah Lesser, Jenna Mansfield, Lauryn Salinas and Laura Ambler. Each girl received a certificate, a pin, and a letter from CHSAA.
