James P. Eccher, of Walsenburg, and Donald “Donny” L. Scheid, of Colorado City, are finalists for the position of district manager. Each was interviewed for approximately an hour by directors and, members of the public, prior to the start of the regularly scheduled Metro meeting on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at district offices.

Eccher, Mayor of Walsenburg for the past five years, touts moving the city from a $900,000 deficit to a balanced budget over the course of his tenure. Under his leadership, Walsenburg has been successful in obtaining state and federal grant funding to complete the Northland Sewer Project and Miners Plaza Park. The city is expected to break ground this month on a multi-million dollar dam project to increase water storage.
