An enthusiastic crowd of around 100 Valley residents, along with folks from Pueblo, Beulah, Huerfano County, and visitors from as far away as New Mexico, danced all night at the Hatchet Ranch Events barn last Saturday to the country and classic-rock rhythms of the well-known Cappton Reid band, who returned to the Valley by popular demand.

The event, dubbed the Second Annual Kickin’ Good Barn Dance, also included an ample BBQ buffet provided by Adam’s Rib, and a silent auction with everything from a week’s stay in a Pagosa Springs condo, donated by a VFC board member, to a celebrity-autographed basketball provided by Turner Sports. Partygoers also had a great time at the end of the dance at the Hatchet Ranch pool table.

The dance and dinner gathering was a fundraiser by Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community (VFC), benefitting the group’s planned community center in Colorado City. With the first phase of the building renovation now completed, the second phase is expected to begin near the first of the year.
