The current U.S. deficit is over $20 trillion. That number is so far out there that I canít even comprehend it. I do know that it exceeds the line of credit my bank has given me.

My son-in-law sent me an e-mail yesterday that helped put it in perspective a little bit, although it is still pretty cloudy in the part of my brain trying to wrap itself around that number.

If some one handed you a dollar bill every second by the time you turned 16.667 minutes old you would have your first one thousand dollars. By the time you were 1.15 days old you would have your first hundred thousand dollars.

You would make your first million when you were 11.57 days old. By the time you were 31.7 years old you would enter the billionaire club. Remember it would be almost 32 years if someone gave you a dollar for every second you were alive.

To reach the two billion dollar mark you would be slightly younger than me (63.41 years old). So where are we at on understanding $20 trillion?

To get to the first trillion you would have to live 31,709.7 years. You heard me right, one trillion. To actually see $20 trillion, you would have to live over 634,194 years.
